Use a local audio file, such as MP3 or WAV. The app separates it into vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. Play the four parts together or adjust, mute and solo them independently here. No STEM Player is needed.
Your audio stays on this device. The first separation downloads a 166 MB model and can take several minutes. The demo is ready to play without that download.
Keep the app in the foreground while preparing songs. On phones, start with the demo or a short song. Full-song separation may need a computer.

Prepare and preview
Stems are the separate parts of a song: vocals, drums, bass and other instruments. Preview them here, then send them to the SP-1’s four sliders. Use a saved song from the waiting room below, or start directly with these buttons.
Choose one audio file from your computer, such as a WAV or MP3. The app creates four stems here.
Add four WAV files from the same song, or one multichannel WAV you already combined in Audacity.
Audio stays on your computer. Separation downloads a 166 MB model the first time. For a YouTube link, use Make your own STEM online with the local helper or your connected processing server.

Connect your SP-1: button guide and troubleshooting
No download needed. These steps check the sound on your computer and the USB connection. They do not replace any music.
Open this page in Chrome
If you are inside chat, copy this address and paste it into desktop Google Chrome. Microsoft Edge also works. If asked, sign in with the account you use here.
Preview audio
Turn your computer volume down a little, then press this button. With an empty set, it plays a six-second demo. Otherwise, it previews your selected track. You do not need the player yet.
Already have four separate WAV stems? Choose Add stems below and select all four together for one song. Imagine STEM prepares the player’s format for you; no separate converter is needed. Add packed WAV is for one eight-channel WAV containing all four stereo stems.
Plug in your SP-1
Have this page open in desktop Chrome or Edge before plugging in. Close any Solderless tab or other app connected to this player.
Turn the player off and unplug USB.
Hold the two outside rectangular buttons beneath the sliders—Track 1 and Track 4—while plugging in a USB data cable.
Keep holding until the small light above Track 1 comes on. Then let go. Choose Allow if your Mac asks about the USB accessory. Immediately click Connect SP-1 below and select the player.
Hold these two buttons while plugging in.
The stock bootloader stays available for about 60 seconds. A solid Track 1 light means bootloader mode; the connection is not ready yet. On Connect, Imagine STEM switches the player into music transfer mode.
Stop when “Transfer mode ready” appears in the player panel. Connecting does not send music. The Track 1 light may go out when the player changes mode.
No player in the list, or connection failed?
If Track 1 goes dark and the USB port disappears before connection completes, restart the sequence: unplug, power off, hold Track 1 + Track 4 while plugging in, release when Track 1 lights, then immediately click Connect SP-1 and select the player. Keep this page open and ready first; the stock bootloader window lasts about 60 seconds.
Check that the cable carries data, not just power. Try another cable or USB port, allow the USB accessory if asked, and close other apps using the player. A light going out during the mode change can be normal; wait for the app’s connection status. Your connection message appears near the top of the page; Session activity has the details.
Software and simulated transfers have passed. A completed transfer still needs a playback check on the physical player. Adding songs requires a matching saved player record. Imagine STEM cannot read or back up existing device audio. Full setup instructions ↗ · Download local Mac preview
Detailed instructions: UVR, Audacity, stem order and transfer
This follows the UVR → Audacity → SP-1 workflow in your guide. Start at the option that matches the files you have. Imagine STEM can prepare the four stems directly, or use your finished Audacity export.
Four independent stems map to the four physical sliders, one stem per slider. Each stereo stem contains left and right audio. A packed WAV stores four stereo pairs—eight audio channels—for those same four sliders.
1. Choose what you already have
Four separate WAV stems
Your UVR files are ready to use. Choose Add stems and select all four files from one song together. Repeat for the next song.
The app prepares four stem slots at 48,000 Hz, one per player slider. You can skip the Audacity packing step.
One finished Audacity WAV
Choose Add packed WAV. The file must have eight channels: four separate stereo pairs. You can select several packed WAVs to add several songs.
Your guide’s 48,000 Hz / signed 24-bit PCM export is supported. A normal stereo mix has only two channels and cannot preserve four independent stems.
One original song file
Choose Separate a song to create Drums, Bass, Other and Vocals on this computer. The first run downloads a 166 MB model. Audio stays local.
Or use UVR as in your guide: Demucs, v4 HTDemucs, all stems, WAV output. Then use Add stems with its four output files. Start with a file on your computer; Imagine STEM does not import Spotify or YouTube links.
Audacity export settings
Import the four stereo stems from the same song. Keep all four unmuted with their starts aligned, and export the Entire Project.
Choose WAV (Microsoft), 48,000 Hz, and Signed 24-bit PCM.
Choose Custom mapping → Configure and set 8 output channels in the WAV file. Keep each stem’s left and right channels separate, using the pairs below. Custom mapping alone does not guarantee eight channels.
Export one WAV per song, then use Add packed WAV in Imagine STEM.

The guide calls Other “Instrument” and Vocals “Melody.” Renaming a track does not route its audio; the channel mapping determines the slider. See Audacity’s channel-mapping instructions.
2. Preview, arrange the stems, and set BPM
Select a song in Choose your audio. Check its title and artist, then enter its BPM. New imports start at 80 BPM; this is a default, not an automatic tempo measurement. Use ÷2, ×2, or Tap tempo to adjust it. Song gain changes all four stems together and preserves their relative balance.
Press Preview to hear the song. Use each stem’s Listen button to hear it alone during preview. Use the source dropdowns to assign the stems to player sliders 1–4. Four-file imports follow the file list’s order; packed WAVs follow channel pairs. Confirm the order by listening.
To download four separate files, click Export WAV under each of the four stem controls. Each file contains that slider’s left/right pair at 48,000 Hz / signed 24-bit PCM, padded to the song’s length. The current Song gain is applied once; keep it at 100% to preserve the prepared level. These downloads use Imagine STEM’s own encoder and do not write to the player. To import exported WAVs again, start at 100% gain so the same attenuation is not applied twice.
Add more songs, arrange their order, and choose Save set plus Export to keep a portable copy. That export preserves this prepared set, not music read from the player.
Start with a short set. This browser version prepares up to 750 MB of decoded audio—about eight minutes total across all songs. The player’s approximately 4 GB storage is a separate limit. The on-page meter shows planned use, not measured free space.
3. Connect the player
Open this page in desktop Chrome or Edge first. Use the button picture in Setup and connection: unplug and power off, hold Track 1 + Track 4 while plugging in the USB data cable, release when the Track 1 light comes on, then immediately click Connect SP-1 and choose the player. Allow the USB accessory if macOS asks.
The stock bootloader is available for about 60 seconds. Solid Track 1 means bootloader mode; Imagine STEM switches to music transfer mode on Connect. Wait for Transfer mode ready in the player panel. If Track 1 goes dark and the port disappears before connection completes, restart the button sequence. Keep only one loader connected to the player.
4. Review kept and new songs, then send
Physical sending is paused in this beta. Preparation, preview and simulated transfers are available while preservation of existing songs is validated on hardware.
Add songs and keep existing uses a matching saved player record to identify the songs to keep. The queue contains only the new songs you are adding. The saved record is not an audio backup or a live scan of the player.
Review both lists in Send to your player, then choose Add songs and keep existing. If the saved record is missing or does not match, sending stays blocked. Use Load saved player record to load a record for this player; do not substitute another player’s record.
Keep the tab open, the computer awake and the cable attached. Wait for Upload complete · 100%. The last step restarts the player and checks the new album. Keep the cable connected during this brief restart. If only this final check fails, save the log and reconnect to check the album before starting another upload. A cancelled or failed audio send can leave an incomplete album.
The app checks the player’s write counters, then confirms the same player reports the expected album after restart. “Simulated read-back passed” describes the simulator only; it does not mean a real player was written.
5. Restart and listen on the SP-1
After an acknowledged transfer, click Disconnect, unplug USB, then restart the SP-1 in normal playback mode. Start quietly and test all four physical sliders, song order, timing and the ends of the songs.
Check playback on your actual player. Write acknowledgments and software checks do not confirm how the audio sounds. The beta guide records what to check.
